“Under the Montana Sky, we are small in the best ways.”

WINTERING AT A MONTANA RANCH:

Join authors and guides Ammi Midstokke and Dawn Brockett for a writing retreat in the heart of Montana, where the ‘last best place’ holds big-sky space to explore how to nourish ourselves on many levels, including through creative writing and beautiful food—supported by Ammi’s and Dawn’s unique expertise and an award-winning chef.

Near the gorgeous setting of Glacier National Park, we’ll lavish in a reprieve from the outside world, mining the depths of our creativity, allowing the wintry quiet to liberate our voices.

Ammi Midstokke is a columnist and author, and Functional Nutritional Therapist who has specialized in how trauma manifests in our relationship to food and body.

Dawn Brockett is an award-winning author, chef, managing director of an international medical society and advisor to clinical trials in eating disorders who believes in the transformative power of creating a space quiet enough to hear and amplify one’s own voice.

This is a retreat for anyone who wants to step away from the noise of the world to more clearly hear their own voice. And we will celebrate the hell out of that.

We’ve built a space that offers room to explore our own relationship to self-nurturing and nourishment while fostering creative expression.

AMMI MIDSTOKE, MBA, FNTP

Writer, adventurer, nutritional therapist

A popular columnist for The Spokesman-Review and Out There Outdoors of Spokane, Washington, Ammi grew up in the mountains of North Idaho, where spring trilliums and fall firewood left their mark on her soul. After over a decade of global adventures that often included the luxury of electricity and running water, she returned to her hometown of Sandpoint, Idaho.

From her basecamp in the Northwest, she travels and writes about everything from this awkward journey of human being to life-or-death battles with banana slugs. She lives with her husband, their two children, and a fluctuating animal-to-human ratio.

DAWN BROCKETT

Award-winning author, keynote speaker, professor, and advisor

Dawn lives in the Mountain West on a small but demanding farm with her outrageously talented wife, their remarkably smart and hilarious puppy, and a small flock of loud but prolific chickens. Mountains of exceptional height, chocolate of profound depth, and conversations of extraordinary length reliably lure her from her writing mat.

In 2023, she released Unrestricted: How I Stepped Off the Tightrope, Learned to Say No, and Silenced Anorexia—a deeply personal story of how one woman stopped disappearing, started listening to her own voice, and claimed her rightful place in the world.
